Mandrake

Mandrake is the owner of Mandrake's Mystical Emporium in Sharrow's Hold.   By appearance, he is an ancient man who is never seen without his lumpy, bumpy, poorly formed red turban. The only visible ornamentation he wears is a simple silver ring on his left hand.   Mandrake's craggy face and wiry white beard tell of a life of hardship and troubles, and he tends to move with a slow and deliberate shuffle. His expression often seems distant; he won't talk about his past, and will be abrupt to the point of rudeness to those who try to ask about it. In fact, his whole manner is abrupt and blunt, until you get to know him.   On the rare occasions he gets to consider someone a friend he'll be happy to sit down with them, puffing on an ornate meerschaum pipe and pouring everyone strong black tea from a huge and equally ornate silver teapot he keeps on one end of his shop counter. He'll also pour himself tea during a sales negotiation, as a cunning way to stall the process and give himself time to think. No-one has ever seen him actually refill the teapot or add tea leaves.       Image Source: Image by Sebastian from Pixabay
