Mini Drakes

Mini Drakes, or Mock Dragons, are Comria's version of Service Dogs. Fiercely loyal, and easily trained by those they have imprinted upon, they come in many kinds, and each is suited to something specific. If not trained to be a service drake, they make incredible hunting companions.   Mini Drakes come in many colours, much like proper dragons.   Red Mini Drakes: The first thing that comes to mind upon looking at these fearsome little things is how much damage they could cause. They run warm, and are extremely loyal to those they imprint upon. Red Drakes are often found by the side of those that have dizzy spells, are prone to fainting, and by those that live in colder areas.   Blue Mini Drakes: Blue Mini Drakes are vaguely descended of Blue Dragons, and still retain electric abilities to an extent. Not enough to hurt anyone, these little drakes are often found in the medical field, using their shocking abilities to help bring people back. When not used in the medical field, Blue Drakes are often kept as guardians for children, having a strong parental instinct of their own, they can, if untrained, end up adopting flocks of birds, may bring home stray cats or dogs, or become the self appointed guardian of a neighbourhood.   Green Mini Drakes: These little lizards are not related to acid dragons, but more closely to fire dragons. They lack a breath weapon of any kind, but have a nose for poisons. Often found in apothecaries, and those with severe allergies, these little guys have noses that could sniff out the most minute scent of an allergen or poison possible. They are extremely protective of people or places that they deem important, and will force people to give said people or places a wide berth if they deem those around it untrustworthy.   Golden Mini Drakes: The rarest kind, these guys are also the largest of the Mini Drakes, and could likely be ridden by your standard human, almost like a horse. They are loyal only if they imprint upon someone at birth. If no one is around, they become loyal to themselves, and will often times create small hoards of any given item. It is possible to befriend golden drakes, but they will not risk themselves to save you. They may trade things from their hoard with you, if you can convince them what you want is worse than what you are giving.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Mini Drakes have four legs, and occasionally small, useless wings. They look much like dragons, but far smaller. The largest, golden drakes, come roughly up to the hip of an average(5'8) human. The smallest known drake would come to the knee of an average(5'8) human.

Genetics and Reproduction

Mini Drakes breed roughly once a year, and are born in clutches of one or two. The eggs will incubate for anywhere from four to eight months.

Growth Rate & Stages

Mini Drakes are long lived, and most will outlive their companions by many centuries. Most start small as a fully grown cat, and are just as clumsy as a kitten. They lose scales quite often throughout childhood and adolescence, and they are coveted among magic users.
