Godling

Immensely powerful followers.

Godlings are far and few between. The first thing one may think about upon hearing the title is often that the person is descended of a god, but this is not true. Godlings, in their rarity, are those that are favoured by a god, and greatly so. These people have done tremendous acts for their god, who have done something so incredible that they could not be ignored. Godlings are powerful, even before being acknowledged by their gods. Likened best to twentieth level adventurers prior acknowledgement, and perhaps closely rivalling the power of a demigod after it. Most people have never seen a Godling, and most that have are long gone. Godlings typically have their lives extended by their god, and far outlive what is expected of their kind.
Throughout history, there has been one extremely notable Godling, a follower of The Knowing. This person worked closely with them, helping the deity to create the floating city known as Ichorrift. She has not been seen by the people in Ichorrift in generations, but the (un)lucky adventuring group may have encountered her once or twice in their journeys, if they ended up within The Knowing's domain.
In the time of Comria's existence, every generation has had at least one godling with them, but not every race has. Some have had many, others only ever one. There has only ever been one human godling, and he is long gone, though his mark upon the world stands to this day in the Old Ruins. Long forgotten by most, this Godling followed a strange, now long forgotten god, who's name has been lost to time. His name was Volkmar True.

Requirements

Godlings must have done something truly incredible in the name of their god to be raised to this rank. The most notable example of this, is a Godling of The Knowing(Name pending,,), who helped them raise Ichorrift itself over the Ichor Crater, generations ago.

Appointment

Becoming a Godling is sudden. It happens during prayer, and is often accompanied by a large burst of coloured light, said colour being determined by which god has given you the power of a Godling.

Benefits

Those that have become Godlings have far longer lives than their race typically has. Goblins, who live at most 150 years, may live up to a thousand. Elves, long lived already, may live through multiple generations of elves.

Accoutrements & Equipment

There is no uniform for Godlings, but they do get glowing eyes, and glow faintly themselves. Not enough to light a room, but enough to see them, even faintly, in pure darkness.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

To lose your status as a godling is to entirely lose yourself. Most do not survive the sudden withdrawal of power, and simply turn to dust on the spot. If you live, you are shunned everywhere you go, and live in solitude for the rest of your life.

To become a Godling is the highest of blessings there is. Are you worthy of the title?

Some gods are more drawn to making godlings than others. Some have had many godlings, while others may never have chosen someone to become a godling. To become the first godling of any god is considered the highest blessing, a good omen, and a sign of good fortune for that person's entire race.
