Origin and Meaning The title "Skyforged" is bestowed upon individuals who have proven their valor, wisdom, or extraordinary service to Altanaeum. It symbolizes being tempered by the trials of the skies, much like how metal is forged in flame. To be Skyforged is to be reshaped by the winds of Altanaeum, refined into a stronger and more elevated form.
The title has its roots in the ancient legends of the Stormbearer Dwarves, who, during the crafting of the sky druid circle, declared that their greatest creations—both tools and heroes—were "forged by the skies themselves." Over time, the Altaneans adopted this term, honoring those who embody the resilience, courage, and unity of their people.
Ceremony of Bestowal To be knighted as a Skyforged, the honoree undergoes a ceremonial "Windsweeping":
Standing atop a sacred high-altitude altar, known as the Zephyrite Pinnacle, they face the four cardinal winds (symbolizing the Nýfada).
The ceremony concludes with the recipient being touched by a blade or staff imbued with silken threads of the Titan Spiders, binding their name to the skies.
The Nýfada snowflake sigil for their direction of service (North for guardianship, East for wisdom, etc.) is then engraved onto a personal artifact, such as armor, a weapon, or a badge.
Responsibilities and Perks Skyforged individuals are often seen as protectors of Altanaeum, its traditions, and its people. They may act as emissaries, defenders, or even spiritual guides, depending on their unique strengths. The title also grants them access to the Council of the Winds, a gathering of Altanean leaders and sages.

Aevaris Dawnspire Aevaris Dawnspire was a legendary Skyforged who defended the Whispering Spires during the Tempest Wars, a conflict between the Altaneans and rogue sky pirates allied with Fae raiders. Wielding a blade known as Zephyr’s Edge, imbued with the blessing of Tomos, Aevaris became a symbol of unity and resilience.
They were said to have stood alone atop a collapsing silken bridge, holding back an entire fleet until reinforcements arrived, their snowflake sigil glowing brightly against the stormy skies. Aevaris’s actions preserved the eastern villages, earning their name eternal reverence among the Altaneans.
