Sky Snails

In the skies above Etoria there is a nation among the clouds. Villages held together with special webbing produced by the Spiders that live among the clouds.
Spirits from the elemental realm of Air live among the folk that have chosen a life living above the rest of the world.
These same air spirits are the riders of the Sky Snails. Massive shelled creatures that are used to carry great loads between the ground and skylings.
Peoples and goods are the most commonly chosen cargo. The Snails start as pearls and the magic of their being pulls from the power of the pearl and spirals the shell outwards prepping the home for the beast.
The Air Spirits, known to many as the Asphere, care for the snails from pearl to fully grown. There are others that learn to ride them, and keep them calm whilst carrying.
Within the shell a pocket dimension is created making it perfect for carrying heavy loads and multiple passengers.
There was a time they were used to smuggle refuges out of Etoria when they were at war with Broken Heart. Being a peaceful at its core, acts and items are not allowed within the shell.
If the snail so wishes it can expel any item or person it is carrying from the pocket dimension regardless of how high up they are.
It has lead to the snails being hunted as many want the pearl for riches and the shall to create pocket dimensional items.
Not having a natural defence the Asphere protect them and form a bond. The snails can provide sanctuary for a chosen bonded allowing them to heal from wounds.
The snails cannot remain flying for long and so follow a strict schedule of flight time and rest time.
It has been known that those too old to make the flights become more static and the Asphere rent the space out as an Inn of sorts.
