Ostoria (oh-STOR-ee-uh)

Culture

Quinametzin

Quinametzin involves veneration of the dead tuskin giants from the black wall and are based on love and respect for the deceased. It is related to the belief that the dead have a continued existence, and can continue to influence the fortune of their living descendants.   This perspective was very promotional for risk-takers to brave the swamps -transporting goods, carrying messages and taxiing the travellers - before they freeze to death.

History

Ostoria is an offshoot of a religious mission since the Race to the Bottom. They originally served to convery missionaries, converts and other supplies between congregations in the deeper swamp. However, as time went on and reed routes were established, the locals took over this initiative into a loose association of trade partners.

Demography and Population

Ostoria are members of the old guards who venture and operate principally in the swamp land. Because of the hostile environment ostoria tend to be the swampers who live, and thus, used to its conditions and freely transport cargo between the sinks and the various firewell regimes.
