Manamite

Manamite is a mineral that naturally absorbs and stores magical energy. Manamite is used in the creation of magical items. Magical staves, wands, rings, amulets, and anything else that can be enchanted and made magical, has Manamite involved in its creation. When applied to a magical item, it increases the efficiency and the power of the spell, depending on what kind of magic is used and what color Manamite is applied. A spellcaster can use any magical implement regardless of the imbued Manamite, so long as they have the knowledge to do so. For example, if a spellcaster attempts to cast a spell that creates a fireball using a staff with Manamite more suited to illusory magic, the fireball can still be cast with no reduction in effectiveness. If that same caster uses illusory magic, the spell will then be increased in potency. The most common color is red, and it stores raw arcane power. It would be used in relatively simple items such as a wand that stores a spell that unleashes lightning bolts. Other colors have different effects. Black Manamite is good for magic that absorbs and gathers energy. White is used for reflective magic. Purple is used for magic dealing with mental and emotional manipulation. Green Manamite is used in necromancy. Illusionary magic is best cast using blue Manamite and yellow is used mainly for transmutation. The rarest and most sought-after form of Manamite is gold. All magic cast with gold Manamite is enhanced. Gold Manamite could be used to cast a lightning bolt with as much power as a red infused Manamite staff. Only the most powerful and/or richest mages have access to gold Manamite imbued implements. A common spellcaster for hire or military will nearly never have access to implements of that power. Heads of magical universities and court wizards of particularly wealthy monarchs or nobles are the most likely to possess such items.
