Loren

The Barony of Tarona is ruled by Baron Heinrich Alpencrest, who owes his fealty to the Kellerian Empire. The Barony has several vassal states that function as small kingdoms, but who owe their fealty to the Baron. As a reward for a great service done for the Baron, a former member of the evil hunting Order of St. Aloysius the Diligent, Lorissa was given the title of Dame and ownership of new lands to the southernmost part of the Kellerian Empire were given to her. She named her new land Loren. Gensen Myrlin, son of the Baron of Sarrony, a neighboring allied Barony, was a friend of Lorissa and volunteered to help the new Dame in the administration of her new state. In addition to his talents as a mage and minor cleric of Cervan, the god of travelers of the sea, he also brings his father’s fortune to help invest in the local economy. He opened a chain of establishments known as “Gensen’s”, which varied in their services. All were taverns and Inn’s, but some also had gambling and fine dining. Within the first year of Loren’s existence, there was a Gensen’s in every city, town, and village in Loren. These establishments created jobs and boosted the economy significantly, but they served another purpose. Every Gensen’s was a staging ground for intelligence gathering to identify and deal with threats before they became untenable. Though Gensen himself was the one who set up the network, it was his family servant, a former assassin named Ernst Kink, who facilitates both the intelligence gathering and general management of the Gensen’s locations. Dame Lorissa is known to be a just ruler that cares for the well-being of her people. She has invested heavily in building the economy and encouraging the arts. Keeping her citizens safe has been a major priority for her as well. She has also spent a substantial amount on security by hiring several mercenary companies to help secure her realm. Within a few years, most of the mercenaries were hired as her permanent army. When a massive invasion of orcs, goblins, giants, and other monstrous soldiers marched upon Aderaith, the capital of Tarona, Lorissa was able to send a substantial military force to help the Baron’s forces, while keeping her own borders well secure.
