Kogamaki
Kogamaki is known impolitely as the "Barbarian City" due to it being home to the Kogama people, a culture that used to live in tribes that lived off the land and eschewed living in major settlements or cities. Kogamaki is in the Mantani desert and built on the bones of an ancient meeting spot that all tribes used to meet and discuss peace in neutral territory. When the Kogama became citizens of Paltroy the city was built, in part to "civilize the barbarians" , but also so that the political officers sent to "guide" them in their citizenship wouldn't have to sleep on the ground and eat "uncultured" food. Kogmaki is as modern as any other city in Paltroy and now has a sizable population of non-Kogamki residents.
The wealthy often make the arduous trip through the cool, dry and rocky desert at least a few times in their lives to see the unique cultural treasures that Kogamaki has to offer. Their museums boast beautiful artwork from painting to pottery in styles not seen anywhere else and the Kogama have their own ancient tradition including stories that have passed through the generations and are now told in the form of modern theatre that is rarely seen anywhere else in the world.
The Kogama have always been known as renowned horse riders and that tradiotion continues with an entire section of the city given over for breeding, raising and training horses and their riders. Paltroy cavalry officers are often stationed in Kogamaki for advanced training in riding and cavalry tactics. The current chieftan of the Kogama is Jangi Orda and is "advised" by a Paltroy political officer named Yudin Fyodorin.
