Kessix Species in Colarn | World Anvil

Kessix

Often confused with pixies, the Kessix are fey that have fairy-like wings and can change size from the size of a small bird to the size of a full-grown human. The Kessix are similar to pixies at first glance, but there are some subtle differences. Most pixies wear their hair short, and their colors are what you may see on most humans. A Kessix's hair trends in longer lengths and can appear in bright and unusual colors such as pink, green, purple and blue. A pixie's skin pigment is more earth tones while a Kessix's can be any shade.  Though the Kessix 's ancestors originate from the fey realm, Ulfalion, their people have never lived there. Several millennia ago, pixies came to the mortal realm of Colarn. They would play tricks on the larger folk, such as stealing their shoes and raiding any stores of cream that they may have. They especially loved to move things around. A broom may be moved from the kitchen to the outhouse, or someone's prized family heirloom could inexplicably appear in the belongings of a guest without anyone's knowledge. After some time living in Colarn, many pixies found that they had fallen in love with mortals, both platonically and romantically in some cases. Many stayed and through size altering magic were able to form unions with mortals. The offspring of these unions are what became the Kessix. Due to their mixed heritage, they are born and grow to be the size of normal humans and their fairy wings are not organically attacked to the backs. They can grow strong enough to wear heavy armor and wield heavy weapons. Their fey blood allows the to alter their size and create spectral fairy wings that they can use to fly at will. They do not have the natural magical gifts that pixies do to cause magical mischief, but true to their heritage they do love to pull pranks on others.
