Dane Lopatin Character in Colarn | World Anvil

Dane Lopatin

Dane Lopatin is a human cleric of Selot, the sun god. He is 6 feet tall, has short cropped brown hair with brown eyes. He grew up working his parent's farm and still helps when he's not performing his duties within the church.  He resides in the village of Oslant within the Emeca Valley. The Valley is an independent nation, and the seat of power is in the northern part of the Valley in the city of Emeca. Dane's parents are farmers named Wayne and Elaine Lopatin and he is the youngest of three children. His older brother Blaine is a lieutenant in the military and his sister Jane is a legal counseler for the state. Both of his older siblings live in the capitol city.  Dane has a good life as a novice priest in his little village. He knows everyone there and befriends everyone he can. He helps anyone he can in need. When the people of South Vostead were suffering from the damage and disease of a flood, Dane was the first to volunteer to make the journey to assist. When farmer Meoleen broke his foot right at harvest time, Dane healed his foot, but recommended that he stay off it for a few days. He received permission from his superiors to spend the next several days harvesting the farmers crops himself. When it is his day to give the sermon, his parents along with his Aunt Fain and Uncle Tim attend every sermon and are all very proud of him. Dane enjoys his life and loves his family and community, but he feels stifled and wants to see the world, which is why every chance he gets he leaves the village. His friend, Luka Jurgan, is a lycan kin, that lives in the nearby Trenswell Forest. Dane often travels with Luka on his hunts and excursions into the deeper woods. Luka, in turn, also often accompanies Dane whenever he leaves Oslant to aid other towns and villages. As Dane reaches his 20th birthday the yearning for new horizons is growing ever stronger. Word has reached Oslant that the King is looking for people to journey forth out of the valley on an important mission. They will need experienced healers and trackers for this possibly dangerous journey. Though Dane is afraid that taking this journey would mean never seeing his family or his home ever again, his desire to see what's beyond the mountainous border of the Emeca valley is too strong and thus Dane and Luka will soon begin their trek into the unknown.
