The Galactic Uprising

For nearly a millennium and a half, humanity suffered under the iron rule of The Scourge. Uncountable rebellion attempts had taken place on a myriad of planets across the galaxy, the vast majority not even being successful enough to be recorded in the history books and ending in just another slaughter. It was clear that a much more expansive and organized effort would have to be made if there was to be any further serious attempt at revolt. Finally, a group of brave people began the colossal undertaking themselves, and after many years of careful planning, the coup was set into motion. First, a custom engineered computer super-virus the likes of witch the galaxy had never seen was unleashed upon the hoards of Scourge robotic proxies. As robotic creations had made up over 80 percent of Scourge military forces, this was a devastating blow due to the virus being functionally impossible to cure or stop once it entered any server or network (though this did have the side effect of immortalizing the virus in galactic internet and making artificial intelligence development virtually impossible in the future). Next, the real fighting began. As humanity had not been allowed any weapons, firearms, or armored vehicles of any sort under Scourge rule, people had to modify their robotic exoskeletons and mechs that they had previously utilized en masse for forced labor activities such as deep space mining and agriculture to have a fighting chance, quickly creating improvised weaponry, firearms, and explosives that were refined in time as the Scourge reeled from the blindsiding unified rebellion. Slowly at first, the Scourge were pushed back, felling many humans for every single casualty they sustained, but momentum built over time. Soon, the galaxy would be wrenched from Scourge tyranny and humanity would thrive once again, but the scars inflicted by the Great Enemy would never fully heal, neither the physical and technological damage, nor the collective psyche.
