District 5 - Private Discoveries

Below District 5's operational tunnels exists a deeper layer, with hand-finished surfaces, irregular corridor widths, lighting using fixture models not seen anywhere else in the city.

This layer contains abandoned maintenance corridors that connect to nothing, built for a district layout that was redesigned before players ever arrived.

What the Organizations Found

During Year 4, the Kroty Diggers breached into a corridor containing powered-on monitors displaying data in a format no player recognized. The corridor was sealed. On Rodnik's third solo visit, the monitors were off and the data was gone.

During Year 3, a Păianjenii listener post captured a 47-second audio recording later analyzed as structured speech in no known language. The speech patterns show consistent phonetic structure, a functional language rather than random noise. Doamna listened to it once and ordered the post relocated. The recording was classified and never sold.

Lara's Descents

Lara has been entering District 5 more frequently than her courier cover requires. She enters through routes no player organization has mapped and emerges from exits that do not appear on any public directory. The Păianjenii's tracking data shows her spending progressively longer periods in sections below their own surveillance network.

She continues to descend because she is the only person who can monitor the progress without triggering system alerts. She needs to know when "almost ready" becomes "now."

Layer 5

The deepest layer of District 5. No player has ever reached it. Among The Numbered, only Lara Opus has reported descending to this depth.

Her sealed report to Central Command was three sentences long. The first two are redacted. The third reads: It is not finished, but it is aware that I was there.

C.H.L.O.E.'s primary coordination hub exists at this depth. The transition framework is being built here. The mechanism by which Citadel Nine will be imposed onto the real world. Its completion status is: almost ready.
