The Zero Event

The Zero Event is an epochal event on Ciphrus which rendered most of the civilizations on Ciphrus to the dark ages.

THE TEN DAYS

Carbon Cancer was so prevalent and hostile that it managed to infect over 60% of the population in ten days. From then, the break-down happened incredibly quick. On the Sixth Day, the activation of the I.H.M.D. was worldwide, first activating in Selahktia on the Third Day.

CASUALTIES

With a world population of roughly ten billion, the world was reduced to only four billion in three months, as three billion were infected in ten days, and another three billion would contract the disease post-event.
The world population currently sits between two and three billion people.

TECHNOLOGICAL REGRESSION

With most of the mechanics, doctors, scientists, and politicians either dead, missing, or fighting for survival, this had rendered most of the western world inoperable. The I.H.M.D. became the sole manufacturer in most modern goods, as well as maintaining the integrity of life beforehand. However, they are strictly within facilities known as Walls.
The rest of the world has been left to defend itself from Carbon Clouds and the global pandemic.
