Gilgamesh of One

Gilgamesh of One (a.k.a. The Lord of eight)

Gilgamesh, known only by his enigmatic title "of One," is a figure shrouded in mystery and reverence across Cinder. He is whispered of in myths and legends, revered as a being of immense, unfathomable power. His true nature and origins remain elusive, with only two beings—Luthos, the Goddess of Divinity, and Mistrim, the Goddess of Magic—having ever encountered him. Even they speak of him with an air of awe, suggesting that Gilgamesh transcends the limits of mortal understanding. Legends describe Gilgamesh as a master of the Weave, a force intertwined with the very essence of magic itself. He is said to hold dominion over all arcane arts, his mastery so complete that it defies categorization within any single school of magic. Some tales suggest that he is not bound by the constraints of time or space, existing across the past, present, and future, watching over the world from realms beyond mortal comprehension.   His presence is rarely felt directly, yet the influence of Gilgamesh echoes throughout the history of Cinder. It is believed that the formation of The Nine was a direct result of his guidance, acting under the will of Luthos and Mistrim. The Nine, the most powerful wizards of the age, are said to follow his unseen leadership, their actions shaping the destiny of magic according to his enigmatic design.   Whispers among the arcane community suggest that Gilgamesh might be more than just a powerful wizard. Some believe that he is the living avatar of Mistrim on the material plane, a physical embodiment of the Goddess of Magic herself. This belief, while unproven, adds another layer of mystique to his already enigmatic persona. Whether he is an independent entity or a divine avatar, his influence over The Nine is undeniable, guiding them in the stewardship of the Weave.   Despite his influence over The Nine, Gilgamesh's authority is not universally recognized. The Elven Colleges, steeped in their own traditions and arcane knowledge, do not acknowledge him as being above them. To them, Gilgamesh is a figure of legend, respected but not revered. Yet, his enigmatic presence continues to shape the course of magic in Cinder, ensuring that the Weave remains protected and untarnished.   In the end, Gilgamesh remains an enigma—a guardian, a ruler, and perhaps something far beyond even the gods. His motives are inscrutable, his power immeasurable, and his existence a testament to the profound mysteries that lie at the heart of Cinder. His true purpose, known only to Luthos and Mistrim, continues to guide the fate of magic, weaving a path through history that only he fully understands.
