After a night of sleep the party wake in the morning. The rain has stopped but it is humid. The camp is putrid. Kailyn returns to the medic tent with Bjorn and begin healing some of the sicker soldiers. ‘Kailyn, the autonotom has arrived. I am impressed I look forward to your return. Any help I can give you can ask. Prince Wakanga’. ‘Help may be needed in the future but at this time we are at Camp Vengeance. You are lucky I let the autonotom go back. Kailyn’ ‘Kailyn I’m grateful as ever as you know. Let me know a time you would like me to check back in. See how you are going’ ‘We can speak an hour after noon. I should be available then. Wakanga forever’.   Kailyn, Bjorn, Elessa and Fang go to find Lorsa.   Nisus seeing Bjorn feels, considering he is at a camp, he is not well rested!   Yesne wanders the camp trying to mend things. She hears that reinforcements are supposed to arrive later today along with food supplies.   Whilst the party are finding Lorsa, Nisus takes Yesne to teach her the ‘ayayay’.   The group finds the scouting parties together (both groups) though they do keep themselves separate. He advises he will meet them at his tent once he’s finished.   Guardians of the gate you return, you can see that things aren’t that much different here unfortunately but we continue the good fight of the order   B. We’re trying to make it better for your troops   Firebeard checks outside and pulls the cloak down over the tent   F I think the similar principals we discussed before would allow under our guardianship with breakbone confident we can be left to our own devices. Our struggle is the inability to manage the terrain and the scouts are not working together B we may have resolved that issue. We had a word with Lorsa and she has agreed to bridge the disconnect between the two scouting parties. She’s agreed to help train the men if you feel that would be beneficial   F if you can get that alignment with wolf you could’ve sorted at least one of our problems. The coiffers are lean and wolf struggles with the equipment he has. B I am a blacksmith and if I can offer my services I will. We could modify in the short term whilst we have breakbone go to the mainland to recruit and finance for better/more appropriate equipment. F we will have to see. Modification appears difficult but more native armour we won’t be able to change with breakbone here. I know that wolf would be interested in that. Breakbone would find the changes more acceptable if they are done whilst he is not around. But don’t be surprised if there isn’t an ask from him for equipment. B men would appreciate more food / warmth / equipment F at the moment there isn’t quite the flow in the coppers B breakbone would be able to generate those funds from the main land – from what I hear he is a fantastic recruiter F wolf will want kit. Have you thought how to persuade breakbone to leave B it depends what agreements we get from everyone else F he will listen to the counsel – the more joined up we are the more he is influenced. He only takes orders from higher than himself – they are not here. Or perhaps a Merchant Prince. He is definitely influenced by them. Firebeard agrees to the plan and the party depart.   The party then make their way over to find Salharna.   S Even if you hadn’t ocme I can see your positive influence has hit the troops. I think I even heard some music in the mess hall last night? We spoke last time of plans. Any progressions K we do have a plan. We have convinced lorsa to help wolf train his troops so they can have unity. Firebeard is also with us as well S if they’re behind you I do not need to know more. Please issue a royal request for breakbone to join us in the city   Kailyn relays to the party that wakanga is willing to help.   Before entering the counsel Kailyn splits his last remaining dose of rainbow Taje and gives one of them to Bjorn. Firebeard approaches the party and asks us to wait outside. 10 minutes later the tent doors are pulled back and we proceed in.     Kailyn laces the party with ‘stink bombs’ to heighten the smell of the camp as they enter the tent. As we enter there is a heavy oak table. The war counsel stood around it with Breakbone sat in a chair at the head. Firebeard turns and whispers ‘you’re up’.   Commander as per the counsel, we invite the returning party you sent out to assess the area to deliver their report.   B ‘morning commander’ Bb ‘I believe it’s just past noon’ B ‘my mistake good afternoon’ Bb the men seem pleased of your return. I hear I have a report K as requested we explored mbala and the heights above and came across some unsettling adversaries which I feel warrant a dedicated response Bb continue K it would seem that the inhabitants have been slaughtered, there are no survivors left. There was a hag of sorts encamped with some form of flesh monstrosity under her will Bb stand forward so I can hear you (Kailyn moves forward) Bb speak up, the facts K we encountered the hag and dealt with them. In doing so we also rescued a fellow traveller – nisus benhar Bb looks up at nisus at this point K the hag and the damage Bb what is it that you can do N it depends on the person who has the request Bb list them N heal, cook, dance, Bb dancing is your skill N I can kill many enemies and heal Cyas I can vouch for the divine powers this person has brought to camp Bb good another resource. Carry on Kailyn K a more pressing issue I wish to report Bb if I am not mistaken there is another individual K yes we also have a scout we picked up along the way, elessa Bb what use are you E I’m just tagging along and picking up stories on the way Bb a story teller and a dancer K she is a great asset to the camp Bb throws a cup at elessa. Elessa catches the cup Bb you seem to have some skills hopefully beyond story gathering K I wouldn’t have brought them if they had none Bb continue and get to the point K the main issue is the thayans have come to chult, are scouting deeper into the jungle Elessa and Kailyn notice a slight clenching in jaw and hand of breakbone at the mention of the thayans. K they are pushing, we encountered a small group and managed to deal with them but there are more from what we an tell. I would humbly suggest we look to counter their foray into the jungle. My worry is our numbers are depleting and we must rally greater strength for the camp. B restocking and reinforcements are greatly needed Bb looks to firebeard – captain how goes the recruitment drive from the city Fb the expected reinforcements at this point continue to be 6 days late. B how many reinforcements would you be getting Fb as many as we can muster from the city B what is that in terms of number Fb as many as we can take Bb so your report is you have vanquished some things in mbala, found more threats to add to this undead. It looks like we will need you to remain supporting us here K as discussed previously, we are a better resources at identifying threats outside of camp B the camp needs to be reinforced to protect the majority of the camp Wolf commander if I may, I’d be inclined to agree that they seem to be pretty effective similar to my unit in being a little more of a loose tether weapon in the good fight we receive ‘lorsa I would also say the same they seem to do well in the jungle Bb well that’s the first time I think I’ve heard my two scout lieutenants agree. Sounds like that is a good decision for me to have made. B well we have heard the men say you are a good leader Bb I believe your report is complete and if so we can carry on with the counsel K I would only like to add that we came here with lieutenant silvertusk. To be blunt we heard little in terms of recruitment in nyanzaroo whilst we were there Bb then they must try harder in the city. Firebeard what is happening in the city Fb I believe master lovehammer was about to speak but we are driving all we can. The gravitas as masther tharamor has indicated is not quite there in the city Breakbone stands from his seat. Bb it is not good enough. You are a great leader but an even better recruiter and you have continually inspired the men and officers here to do the best that they can do. The merchant princes are the key in nyanzaroo Bb I agree, they hold good influences with them but our connections are not K not anymore, we are on terms with some of them. We are blessed and lucky to have spoken to him. Fang was the winner of a blood race in nyanzaroo which gave him a chance to speak with Zanthe. So if you say I need to go I’ll go but I would say maybe I could get working with the chultans better but it’s your command. Right I’ve got some healing to do.   It is warm but not hot and remains dry. Fang goes out with the scouting party to see if she can gather supplies. She finds mangos and papayas for camp.   Whilst eating breakfast, an individual walks through the tent, robes billowing. He comes striding in, though his feet don’t quite touch the floor. ‘there’s the adventurers’. Yesne runs up and hugs him. I’ve missed you. I have missed you too. Looks like you have been busy. I have had the charming pleasurer of speaking with commander breakbone. Speaking more freely now. He will come with me and I shall support him. His heart is in the right place, buried deep but it is there. He seems to quite like you. We share some of the riches but I feel Breakbone will be able to drum them up.   He sees nisus and introduces himself. Nisus holds his hand out to shake it, Wakanga takes it and as he does his hand is cleaned. Then introduces himself to Elessa. She says no but can I get cleaned as well and holds out her hand.   He sees we own many magical items. Yesne says Nisus got caught up with a god. All we hear is moa this shagambi that. Wakanga seems interested.   Yesne asks what Wakanga is going to do with Vorn, he says he intends to replicate them.   Wakanga says if we do need to get back then his assistant Kareta will be able to help us.   The heart of Ubato is towards the south east of the Aldani basin.   Yesne speaks with Inete to tell her we are leaving. Whilst talking she senses something is wrong and wonders if it could be grandfather zitembe. She tries to send him a message but does not get a response. She tells inete she would go visit him as soon as they get us back.   Bjorn goes to check if Azzaka is planning to return with us. Azzaka is very impressed that Bjorn has the power to ask a Prince to teleport us back home.   When they are ready the entire party is transported immediately back to Nyanzaroo via the Old City. We exit a small building built of stone but with a wooden fascia on the outside. Wakanga and Commander Breakbone create a portal and leave for Wakanga’s library.   Two children approach the party asking if they would want to buy some nuts. Bjorn gives them gold to go away.   The party navigate their way to the gate, as inconspicuously as possibly to avoid the eyes of the flaming fists guarding the gate.   As Kailyn approaches the gate he notices these guards are not lazy, they have a small barracks to the side of them and whilst observing there is a contingent of guards. Some not in armour though they are in flaming fist vestments. The two children selling nuts are talking to the guards and are given some silver.   Whilst debating the means of which we can pass through the gates we see carts and wagons being pulled in a procession.   Kailyn asks me to message Rosarin to find out how we get through.   There is a large man leading the procession and a gnome is sat at the front. It is Ottemay Swiftendark. Kailyn walks over to them to chat to them.   Kailyn mentions we’ve been in the jungle and would like to know if we could travel through secretly. She walks down a side alley with Kailyn for a chat. Kailyn offers 50 platinum if she could load her wagon with our items.   We approach the gate and are stopped. We mention we have a writ and that we are known to the immolators. A guard stood towards the back says we are known and have been told to give us allowance. Kailyn shows him the lantern. Guard offers for us to pay a sum. Kailyn offers 4000gp. The appraiser comes out and agrees. They make it through the gate and retrieve their items from Ottemay.   Ottemay mentions Batten down the Hatches will be up for auction tomorrow.   Yesne wishes to visit the Temple of Savras. They head towards it. As we enter the Merchants Ward all of the bunting is now white and many of the more affluent public are wearing white arm bands. Yesne asks Inete what the white is for. She says it is when a Merchant Prince dies.   As we enter the temple Gabriel meets us along with the ward. Inete runs to Gabriel, they embrace. Gabriel tells her something and she cries. He could feel himself being pulled in the wrong direction - not to the astral planes as he should have. He prayed that we could solve this.   An ever growing number of mothers coming to us unable to bare more children.   Prince Yesamine also has passed though they do not know how long ago and whether it was her daughter covering it up. It will bring instability.   Viewing tomorrow and will lie for a week before being burned. Yesne suggests he is not burned as Aumar says that we can reverse this.   Gabriel takes them to another room and they talk about how Aumar left instructions not to bury him. He is glad there is hope and will make arrangements to preserve the body. Yesne is under the impression that souls will return to bodies if we solve the curse. Inete and Yesne say a tearful goodbye and leave the temple.   Kailyn having earlier made himself invisible manages to find his way back to Glops Emporium. Kailyn shows him Rild and asks what he has of interest. Glop swaps him for a Cloak. He also buys some fine ‘leather’ velum for Yesne.   Kailyn heads back to the party at the Thundering Lizard where they discover that Emika has unfortunately passed.   Nisus travels to the docks to send a message via ship. He heads back to the party at the thundering lizard. On his way a hand touches his shoulder softly, he stops and sees a shaven half orc wrapped in red robes ‘you look an adventurer’. N ‘ I have seen my fair share, you are very tall my friend’ O ‘I am Lurt’. N ‘I am Nisus’. They clasp arms L I have been only a few days in the port in search of my sister who has gone missing. I seem to not be able to find aid. I am looking for anyone who would be able to assist. N have you tried the local guards L they do not seem to know, I am told they arrived some weeks ago on a ship. I have only just managed to catch up but they apparently went guarding a merchant vessel and neither have returned. I have no access to a ship and am in need of any aid I can get. Tells her that Kailyn’s sister met with someone here in the bar, she told me she’s got a lead on possibly where the death curse might be originating from. I can’t remember what her name was. Turns out it was Summer Strider Bronn. Yesne tells her that Bronn cannot talk or hear. She says they definitely did speak and laugh together. So Yesne tells her it is probably a Hag. Asks where they went…. South to where the death curse is from. They left 2 days ago, Yesne must tell Kailyn immediately. She runs out of the bar and shouts him. She tries to send Rosarin a message but the message fails.   Towards evening the bar starts to fill up. Yesne finds Kailyn and tells him what has happened. Bjorn suggests finding a quiet table (our usual one outside). Unfortunately, when we go outside the table is occupied by Flaming Fist (8). There’s a spare chair which Yesne sits at and starts talking to them. She asks them to move out of our table please. Kailyn throws out a ball bearing which lets out a screech. Some of them jump out of their seats and look at Yesne. A small scuffle ensues but the Flaming Fist agree to leave the table allowing us to sit.   Nisus joins the party and relays the information about his meeting. Then Brogan comes skitting through the crowds to the party. Bjorn asks if he is being good. Turns out he is still pick-pocketing. But he is pick-pocketing thieves, who have already stolen. He was sent to find us because we need to go to the bath houses at noon. Gabriel says so.   The party retires to bed. Kailyn goes and finds out where his sisters’ room was, they show him it and he decides to stay in there for the night.
