The Guardians of the Lazari

[ltr]The Guardians were the most powerful and loyal members of the Lazari Army. They were enhanced beings who were gifted great power thanks to unique artifacts used on them. These warriors would lead the empire to many victories. Though when the empire started tearing its self apart it was these beings that aided in its destruction as the ancient ones sent their warriors at each other. The senseless battles would have a toll on the warriors as they would begin to go mad. In the end they would be put down one at a time before the war was over. Many thought it was slaying the monsters that served the ancient ones. Though one writing from the time mentions a guardian thanking their killers for freeing them from this curse.[/ltr]

Qualifications

The guardians were chosen from the Lazari empire's strongest warriors. Each was groomed and tested to see if they were compatible with the conversion process. Many ended up dead from being incompatible with the relics. Though those who would survive would go on to serve their masters proudly.
