It is recommended to always have a good coat when going after a bounty. This is because you never know what the target has in their arsenal. Every coat is different amongst the hunters as it shows a bit of their style and the things the came up against. It is also common for some hunters to hand off their coat to another after their passing, along with a gun.
The common material used in a hunter's coat is Theri leather as it's durability can be enhanced by passive essence and can also be used to have runes on it to increase the durability. Armor plates are common as well, maybe made from Draxi. All these things make for a better chance to survive when hit by magic or even shot.
