Law of Transplanar Auto-Apportation

Transplanar Auto-Apportation: the apportion and self-transportation of an object though the planes. Say we are on our home plane, yes? And we take something from another plane--say, a small rock from Silverglass. The rock will steadily float and defy gravity and gently move toward the plane it originates from. That's the basics. Now, imagine if we got a bigger rock... .
— Pedrick Vonalur

Floating Islands, flying ships, and other contraptions that defy gravity with ease all have one thing in common; they have materials on them that are not from the plane they are currently in. On Airth, gravity steadily pulls and holds things down to its surface. However, when another nonnative object is introduced, it starts to float away back to its native plane. This phenomenon is what first gave rise to the idea of planes of existence beyond our own, to technologies that haphazardly utilized this phenomenon in order to fly, etc. As a matter of fact, some geological phenomena such as Cirros occur because some of the earth is from another plane of existence.

Vehicular Usage

On the most basic air ship, there will be the body of the ship, sails and something to steer the sails, and the runebags. Runebags are bags with runes inscribed on the inside that summon objects or materials from other planes. Often, it draws from the plane of air and fire.
Runebags are usually in the center of the ship, entrapped in metal lattice that keeps the bag in place when it is opened and empties or as it is closed and refills. As the runebag sits, it fills and will slowly increase the altitude of the ship; as it is opened, the material inside will escape and the ship will rapidly lose altitude. It is important to open the runebag, as the bag will constantly expand until it simply explodes, breaking the runes. More recent arcane efforts have been made to etch a start and stop condition for summoning materials within a runebag.

Illegal Vehicular Usage

Don't. You'll fly off the edge of the world.
— Most Parents
In illegal racing practices, some persons will attach their runebags to open horizontally, no longer achieving floatation, but endless propulsion.
