Operation Shot in the Dark has officially begun. The Dauntless has taken up position off the Chernarus coast line (CLASSIFIED) miles from shore. It is currently hosting both Echo and Foxtrot unit while the Juliet air company remains stationed in Gibraltar on standby with a single helicopter stationed onboard the dauntless, callsign Vulture 1.
We also have an armed UAV at our disposal flying out from our base in (CLASSIFIED)
Hand picked members of Echo and Foxtrot are currently undertaking operations on land, primarily passive and active reconnaissance. Operators are currently operating disguised as locals to maintain secrecy. Considerations of political repercussions have been considered and command is aware that doing this is a violation of the still agreed Geneva convention.
Passive recon has already begun, with operatives in disguise taking photographs and notes on geographical obstacles and enemy fortifications.

The first land based operation was a great success. Two operatives, ‘Growler’ and ‘Pip’ were air dropped by Vulture 1 onto (REDACTED) island on the south east coast to make the first move against the Russian forces. The objective was to destroy an AA outpost in the form of a Tunguska.
The mission was a success with every contact on the island being neutralised. The team exfiltrated without issue via Vulture 1.

Upon suggestion of Foxtrot unit leader, two more operatives, Tox and Joker, were deployed to recon Electrovsk. We received intel that two local factory workers had been taken prisoner by the Russian military for threatening to leak sensitive information. Their objective was to find these men.
However they were heading into an area where they were massively outnumbered and outgunned with only the support of a UAV. As we have not yet secured a foothold on Chernarus or gained any favour from the locals there was little chance of them pulling off this mission.
They were both quickly captured. They specifically did not bring any identification, however were using military grade equipment including a type 115 rifle, uav terminal and EDF DMR, but no uniforms.

Our passive operatives have discovered the Russians are trying to extract Tox and Joker via a civilian air strip on the southern coast via a helicopter. Echo unit deployed three operatives along with their UAV to rescue them before they could be extracted. This time the taskforce were only given generic kit to avoid any possible link to the Chimeras. The rescue was successful and all five operatives were successfully extracted.
So far it is unclear whether the Russians have caught wind of Operation Shot in the Dark as of yet, but thus far radio chatter has suggested they are more inclined to believe this is a civilian reaction to their strict sanctions they have imposed on the region.

After an attempted liberation of a village against overwhelming firepower, two operatives, Griggs and Lake, were compromised and captured. They successfully destroyed an artillery battery in the village of (REDACTED) but were soon after compromised. Despite being against the odds, they opted to continue the mission and pursued the enemy ammo truck. They were surrounded and captured. Their location is unknown.
Prior to deployment they were given fake identities with forged ID cards to throw the enemy off the scent. Their location is currently unknown
Agent Jackal put her marksmanship skills to good use today after finding a lead that Iceman was still in Chernarus. He was being held in an enemy occupied lighthouse, being tied to the top exposed to the elements in a vain effort to get him to talk. He was under the supervision of Russian officer first class Rovchenko, who has made quite the name for himself for his treatment of the local populace.
Jackal positioned her squad atop a hill peak using a Chimera issue sniper rifle to eliminate Rovchenko, then several AGM missiles from a UAV to strike the two checkpoints containing the majority of the enemy troops. After eliminating enemy soldiers around Iceman her and her squad advanced down the mountain to ID Rovchenko’s body then rescue Iceman. Russian reinforcements came in the form of one ground vehicle and a helicopter, both of which were destroyed by the UAV, allowing Jackal, iceman and her squad of rebels to extract.
The mission was handled exceptionally well. The brutal treatment of Iceman was a spectacle intended for all the locals to see. Many of them did. Those same locals will now see the wreckage of the Russian cars and helicopter instead of the abused captive.
Agent Sabertooth and Fox were sent to cause further destabilisation after a long hiatus of operations and building of paramilitary forces in the areas opposing the Russian government. Sabertooth and Fox were sent out to disarm explosives set by pro-russian militants and were successful in disarming them. They encountered a Russian patrol but dealt with it effectively, afterwards, intercepting a truck carrying more explosives intended for use by the same pro-russian bomb makers.
Following their successful mission, on the same night Sabertooth and Fox linked up with Agent ---- of Echo unit. Together the three of them struck fear into the hearts of the Russian soldiers as they swept through the three valleys region of Chernarus. They eliminated a Russian helicopter and supply convoy with expert use of laser targeting, AGMs and teamwork. The Ifrit MRAP deployed to Chernarus has proven an incredibly useful tool for them.
Deciding to capitalise on their prior victories, the three agents continued on to the next village with the objective to hunt down and kill HVT codename ‘Paris’, a Russian officer, to weaken the enemy command structure. As well as steal a truck to be used by the rebel forces. They were outnumbered at least 15 to 1 yet managed to pull off the operation successfully. Paris was killed in a coordinated AGM strike and the truck was stolen, not only that, the agents also managed to secure a Grad MLRS, which will be incredibly useful for our efforts here.
With the coastal town of Solnichniy being nearly encircled in a single night, rebel forces have moved in to occupy where the three agents have been. The next step is to remove the factory to the north of the town, then the town itself.

After another attempt to weaken the Russian defenses around Solnichniy, Chimera undercover forces from Fox Company were on their way to disrupt operations further.
Both agents encountered adversely tough enemy soldiers they were seemingly shrugging off bullets and seemed to survive a direct missile strike. Both operatives communicated over the radio how they believed they were facing the super soldiers. There was no confirm confirmation in the form of photographs or video to prove this however aside from footage from their UAV that showed a number of soldier thermal signatures surviving a direct AGM strike.
Both soldiers are thought to be KIA.
The decision has been made to call in extra assets from Fox Company and establish a foothold on the coast of Chernarus. Along with Chimera air support Fox company will attack Solnichniy along with Echo Company using full available hardware.

The town was assaulted by three squads. Two from Echo Company and one from Fox Company. Echo Company acted as a diversion and assaulted the main valley into the town, while Fox Company flanked around the side and encircled the Russian forces from behind. The attack was going well with no casualties until a squad of fully equipped super soldiers was encountered which caused a major loss of Fox Company's squad cohesion. The result was 6 squad members KIA with all super soldiers being neutralized.
The bodies were later picked up by an extraction team and are being moved back to the Dauntless for safe keeping until they can be sent to the UK for study.

the aproval rates from the locals are reaching a high enough level that Echo and Fox company soldiers are able to move around un-impeded and un full kit. While certain settlements are still pro-russian, these are in the minority and are primarily in areas nearby major fortifications.
The next step is to assault the province's main airfield. With the airfield under control it allows the set up of artillery, SAM sites and most importantly a base for Aircraft to launch from.
Squad captain Williams of Fox Company lead a unit to scout out the area last night. The areas is heavily fortified as a result of attack on Solnichniy and they are sufficiently prepared for an attack. taking the airfield will not be easy however it is an essential move if the super soldier facility is to be located and to stop the Russians from retreating and leaving Chernarus behind.
3 squads of fox company were deployed to attack the airfield consisting of 36 men in total. The enemy airfield was heavily defended and fully equipped with the best of armour the Russians had to offer.
Contact with the attacking force was lost around 23:00 and re-established at 23:14. In that time many squad members were pronounced KIA after they had made the initial push to take the south side of the airfield. They have since established contact with the Dauntless and reinforcements are being sent to pull them out.
The situation is presumed to be dire with many casualties being taken on Fox Company and the Russian side. As a result the Russians are hesitant to capitalise on their numbers advantage. But it is presumed that when the Russian Reinforcements arrive they will move in to eliminate the remainder of Fox Company.
Two squads of top operatives from Echo Company have been deployed but have an ETA of approx. 1 hr. Meaning the remainder of Fox Company will have to survive the night on their own until backup arrives.
Following the catastrophic assault on the airfield, a squad from Manticore Unit were sent to evacuate the surviving members of the squad from their surrounded position at the airbase. Russian officer Gregory Brizoicse reportedly gave Fox Company an offer of surrender, which they rightly refused.
Fox Company put up a valiant defence, taking significant casualties as a result. The Russians were worse off with the total loss of nearly half their forces attacking the Fox Company holdout. Manticore units arrived after 45 minutes and provided an exfiltration for the survivors and wounded.

Follow the airfield catastrophe, operatives from Echo unit embarked on an operation to plant a bug in the radio tower responsible for all long range communications in and out of the Chernarus region. Naturally it is held under tight guard by the Russians who use it to block internet and cellphone signal in the region. The Echo unit agents successfully infiltrated the facility and planted the bug, facing down several dozen Russian soldiers in opposition.

FINAL ASSAULT
The bug in the radio tower paid off.
The Russians by now are beginning to panic that the Chimeras are operating on the ground in force. One of the officers let slip a name over unsecured coms which allowed electronic warfare staff onboard the Dauntless to track down a potential location to start looking for the super soldier facility.
After successful recon the operation went underway.
The calls were tracked back to a scientist living in the town marked on the map.
In the initial move, Echo unit supported by a Vulture from Juliet flanked around to the south of the first objective while groups from the Chernarus resistance created a diversion with 2 BMPs and armed combatants.
Chimera units called in a guided missile strike on a Natasha II tank stationed at the bottom of the airfield. Otherwise, the paramilitary fighters got the drop on the Russians with massive effect.
Casualties were taken by the Chimeras on the assault of the town but they successfully located the scientist and the required intel. The scientist spoke of a meeting happening on Black Mountain at that very moment that concerned the Super Soldier program.
Upon moving to Black Mountain, the unit of resistance fighters was met by a Russian squad and dispatched. Chimera personnel called in fire support from a mortar set up in the town to clear the hillside of Black Mountain on their approach. They also called in a Tomahawk from Juliet company, which became engaged in combat with another Russian gunship and suffered main rotor damage, managing to land safely in a field.
Resistance fighters were called in to secure the area and the pilots. The areas was secured and remained secured until the end of the battle where repair efforts were able to take place and move the Helicopter.
More Chimera forces from Echo were sent to catch up with the main group to assault the mountain, where it was discovered the Russians were dealing with members of the Chinese government. An unsurprising turn of events, but concerning if the Russians are trying to export their super soldiers
With the mountain secured, Chimera unit Echo mobilized armoured support from the resistance fighters which advanced directly on what was believed to be a holding facility where testing and research took place.
Armoured units proved extremely effective at laying down suppressive fire and providing cover and a diversion so Chimera forces could effectively flank the target location. Russian air support did bomb the tanks, but only caused minor damage, the enemy jet being shot down by Juliet Company.
Mortar strikes were called on the main facility which thinned out highly concentrated enemy forces. Russian personnel did try to scuttle assets and evacuate the area in a truck. The truck was targeted and destroyed by Juliet Company air support, as well as everything onboard.

Results at the facility confirm the Russians were experimenting and growing super soldiers. While this is clearly now where the manufacture the suits, it is perhaps where they dispose of failed test subjects. Recovery teams are currently recovering assets to be prepped and returned to the UK for testing.
Chimera forces will remain in the area until sufficient recovery of intel and assets has taken place before the exfiltration of Chernarus can begin.
