Sayf Alwahda, The Sword of the Prophetess

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The precise magical properties of the Sword are not known. However, based on accounts of the Sword written by eyewitness, the Sword could cut through any armor without ever losing its edge. It also seems to have some ability to cast light magic, although given that its only two know wielders were also extrememly powerful divine casters, it's not clear how precisely the power of the Sword and the power of the warrior intertwined.

History

Sayf Alwahda is the most famous sword in the history of the Dar-al-Shams. It was granted to The Prophetess by al-Shams when first she received The Recitation. The Prophetess despaired to return to the darkness alone and unarmed. She begged Al-Shams to grant her some means of defense. In response, two angels flew down from the heavens bearing a sword with two parallel blades. Al-Shams told her it was named Sayf Alwahda, the Sword of Unity, because it would be used to unite her children. And, so armed, The Prophetess returned to the darkness and began The Unfication.   The Prophetess used the sword throughout her life, and on her deathbed she passed the sword on to her daughter-in-law, Fatimah, who bore it as her birthright. Throughout the early Caliphate Fatimah used the sword, and during the First Fitna, it was turned against fellow Shamsari for the first time. When Fatimah was assassinated, the sword was stolen by the Khariji and taken with them back below the earth. Its whereabouts since then are unknown. But there are some hadith which claim the sword will return to defend the faithful at the time of Tribulation, and that the Prophet Yohannon will wield it in his final battle with the Spider-Lord.

Significance

Sayf Alwahda is amongst the most precious relics of The Prophetess, and easily the most important relic whose whereabouts are currently unknown. If it could be recovered, its value would be unquantifiable. The person who recovered it would be hailed as a great hero of the faith.
