The Gangrel Secession

Political event

The Gangrel Justicar leads most of his Clan away from the Camarilla. Some few individuals remain, but most become Independent.

After a number of events which were interpreted as signs of the coming Gehenna, the Gangrel Justicar was convinced that the fabled apocalypse was, indeed, imminent. Compounded by what he and many of his Clan had always considered a colossal lack of respect, the decision was made to no longer support the Camarilla. The Gangrel "leadership" (such as it was) announced the Clan's decision to exit from the organization en masse. Most became independent, a very small few joined the Anarchs or the Gangrel Antitribu of the Sabbat.   Some Gangrel remained loyal to the Camarilla, though the reception of their local Court often decided their fates. Many were simply run out of town, their Prince unwilling to countenance a Clan of turncoats. Though far from common, some Princes announced that they didn't plan to accept the rulings of Justicars whatsoever and went on with business as usual.   Most were decided on a case-by-case basis, which was the case in Chicago. Prince Fisher decreed that any Gangrel who wished to remain loyal would be welcome, and any Gangrel who proved a problem would be excused. In deference to the Justicars, he did remove the position of Gangrel Primogen from his Court.   In the end only two Gangrel stayed. A prominent Ancilla was offered a position out of respect, and he became Scourge Donovan. A neonate named Melanie Potter, with strong ties to the Lincoln Park Zoo, also remained.
