The Risen God

Elmyra, a copper dragonborn, was created simply to deliver a package from her creator, Albraxis, to a settlement some miles away. The dragon simply being too busy to do it himself. Elmyra made the delivery, running into a band of adventurers on her way. She spent some time with them after her task was completed, and grew a fondness for the lifestyle of the group. However, the longer she was with them, the more she realized that each of them had their own reason for adventuring, while she was doing it simply to have something to do. 
After a time, she returned to her creator, looking for more of her kind. He was dismissive, and told her that he only knew how to make dragonborn because his mother taught him. Elmyra eventually was able to get a location for Albraxis' mother, and she set out to meet with her. It took her some weeks, as she didn't have the money to use warpstones, but she finally arrived at the place where her creator's mother lived.
The two of them had a long conversation, where it was revealed that the secrets of making a dragonborn was passed on to her by a dragonborn wearing green dragon leather armor. She never knew his name nor why he did this, only that the ritual has proven useful to her many times in the intervening years.
Elmyra then went across the land, gathering the legends of the dragonborn in dragon leather armor. She finally found a new purpose: discovering the origins of her race! The young copper was slowly able to construct a picture of this mysterious traveller, and track his movements from years ago. As she retraced his steps, she found herself truly happy. Finally, she arrived at the place of birth of this mysterious traveller, and found too his bones. As she went through the various things present, she was able to find the missing pieces to the puzzle that was this mystical secret bearer.
She discovered his name, Balnenet, and found in his belongings the original directions for the ritual that creates a dragonborn. She had finally found what she was looking for, but, for the second time in her life, she found herself directionless.
She stayed in the abandoned dragon's nest for nearly a month before she realized what it was she needed to do. Donning the green dragon leather armor herself, she set out, precious documents in her possession, to find more of her kind. Each time she did, she passed on her knowledge along with a suggestion. Not every dragonborn she met was amenable to her suggestion, but soon enough a religion sprung up around the forgotten history of the first dragonborn. After a few years, enough worship had been accumulated to draw Balnenet's soul back from death and imbue it with godhood.
Elmyra became the first leader of the church of Balnenet, and when she passed, she became the first saint of the church: Elmyra the Discoverer, named so for her discovery of Balnenet.
The armor and documents are kept by the Order of the First Saint, who are constantly searching for the next dragonborn worthy enough to wield them.
