The Father of Magic
Norentha had just revealed herself to the Seven First Ones, and Quetminook began to wonder what other secrets the world held. He wondered if there may even be things about the world and the cosmos that neither of the Overgods knew. The Goblins, the race Athneron had created for Him, found His curiosity contagious. They began to research, and to pray to him for knowledge.
Quetminook wanted to know what other secrets were out in the world and the cosmos, so he went looking. He discovered and relayed the secrets that he uncovered to his followers, and anyone else who was curious enough to ask. That said, he did stay out of politics and historical events. His interests were mostly scientific.
He eventually got curious about Himself. What made Him, and by extension the other gods, different from mortals. How was it that mortals were able to become weak imitations of the gods? He researched what He was made out of, the energy. The more He looked, the more places He saw with similar energies. He found that while he could manipulate them to some degree, mortals had no power to do so. This energy was far too good a tool to just be left unharnessed, so Quetminook went about manipulating it to follow certain rules that would enable mortals to manipulate the different forms of energy around them in different ways. He experimented with the energies for decades before unveiling His work.
He found the energies that permeate reality. He bound them to rules so that mortals could benefit from them. He created magic as we know it today. But since he bound the energy to so many rules, there were interactions between them that he hadn’t expected, despite the years of study and experimentation. This delighted him to no end, as there was now a new field of study that he had created.
