Creeds of the Living

The Creeds of the Living is the church of Chenravo. As a church, it functions as a group of semi-autonomous units led by a central authrority. Some of these smaller pieces of the main church are parishes and priests, but many of them are Genasi patrols who ensure that the Nekrutan Worms remain contained.    Due to the many different churches and patrols that exist under Chenravo, many of them have developed different ideas on how to best accomplish the goddess' goals. This is why their name has become the Creeds of the Living: they each have their own traditions and methods of handling matters, so long as they support those who are alive, and ensure that the dead stay dead.    Chenravo herself often has little interaction with the church, unlike Balnenet. She prefers to gently correct them when she feels that they are going in the wrong direction, rather than direct intervention. Her methods are subtle, such as altering the terrain to guide a path or creating lingering dreams in the sleep of her followers. Those who return to her are embraced, but those who choose to continue to go against her are left to the Fourfold Council.

Structure

At the top of the Creeds is the Fourfold Council. The Council is made up of eight Genasi that are paired up. The pairings are Fire/Air, Earth/Fire, Water/Earth, and Air/Water. Each pairing works together. When matters rise to the Fourfold, each pair has a single vote that they must agree to use. If they cannot agree, they cannot vote on the matter. For this reason, the pairings consider it paramount to work well together and find common ground. Generally speaking, the Fire/Air and Water/Earth pairs focus on the churches efforts to contain the Deadlands while the Earth/Fire and Air/Water pairs focus on theology and the teachings of the Creeds.    Under the Fourfold Council, the Creeds are split between churches and patrols. They often work together, but each church and patrol only have to answer to the Fourfold Council. Often, due to the large numbers of both, the Fourfold cannot manage them all appropriately. This is largely where their autonomy comes from. They do tend to self-police however. If a patrol goes rogue or a church preaches heresy, the others will often contain or restrain them until the matter can be brought before the Fourfold.

Culture

The Creeds of the Living are generally supportive of the paths that a member may want to pursue. The major exception to this is experimentation with death or undeath in any way. The Creeds consider murder to be one of, if not the, worst sin a person can commit. Any individual found to be engaging in it or in matters of undeath is immediately excommunicated. While Chenravo allows those who leave her ways some leniency, these are beyond what she will forgive.

Tenets of Faith

The living are more deserving than the dead or the undead.   Cultivation breeds bounty.   Those with strength must protect the weak at any cost.

Life is for the living.
