Ability Description |
You gain the service of a familiar, either as a spirit that takes the form of an animal or pet you choose, or as a creature you’ve befriended and taken into your service through that is undertaken by magic. When you cast this spell, pick one effect.
Summon Figment
You summon a creature from your imagination, serving as an extension of yourself.
This figment has the choice of being any creature with the Familiar trait (usually Beasts, Mythical Beasts, and a few other creatures). The creature must be Small or smaller, and be of a Threatl Level (TL) equal to Half-Proficiency or lower.
You may also pick from the following list: Bat, Bird of Prey, Cat, Crab, Frog, Flying Snake, Lizard, Nymbat , Octopus, Owl, Poisonous Snake, Quipper, Rat, Raven, Sea Horse, Spider, or Weasel.
Summon Pact
Any creature with the Familiar trait (usually Beasts, Mythical Beasts, and a few other creatures) and has a TL equal to your Half-Proficiency or lower can enter a mutual pact with you. In doing so, this allows you to pick that creature as your Familiar. At any time you or the creature feels, you may cast this spell again to break the Pact, returning it to its non-bonded existence.
No matter what you pick, the chosen creature is your Familiar, and can be summoned in an unoccupied space within this spell’s range. The creature appears as it always does (and still retains its mind consciousness, and independence if is a Pact Familiar), but it gains the Celestial, Fey, or Demon (your choice) creature type. It's appearance changes with whatever type you apply.
Your familair uses the Familiar Rules for scaling.
You can see through your familiar eyes and hear what it hears until the start of your next turn, gaining the benefits of any special senses that the familiar has. During this time, you are deaf and blind with regard to your own senses.
When the familiar drops to 0 hit points, it disappears, leaving behind no physical form. It reappears after you cast the spell again. While your familiar is within 30 ft of you, you can communicate with it Telepathically⚙️. You can temporarily dismiss your familiar. It disappears into a pocket dimension where it awaits your summons. Alternatively, you can dismiss it forever. While it is temporarily dismissed, you can use another action / ◈ to make it reappear in a space you can seewithin 30 feet of you.
You can’t have more than one familiar at a time, and you can’t have a Familiar or a Companion out at the same time. If you cast this spell while you already have a familiar, you may also choose to have it adopt a new form (even if it is a Pact Familiar). Its new form follows the same rules of the Figment Familar’s forms.
