Owl

This wise looking bird seems to possess the ability to rotate it's head all the way around. It's eyes are large and cute, and though it makes a loud sound in the darkness, it's distinctness adds a bit of comforting familiarity.
  Owls, the smartest bird that may actually, infact, be the dumbest bird. Honestly, can relate. Also, depending on the story they either disintergate when killed or they explode.

    Owls are hunters of the night, and can be quirky, but keen creatures. They're a popular choice for familars for their ability to scout, and almost all adventurers know enough that owls of this, or any other caliber, will fly into danger amd fight to the death when prompted.
