Astral Plane
Gliding up the rigging with practiced ease, the Glemsi Genasi grips the thick ropes and swings out over the sea, their foot braced against the knots to keep themselves secure as they raise the spyglass to their eye. Rising above the endless fog and breaking up silver waves, a whirlwind of fog and spectral shrieks rapidly descends upon the vesel. "Psychic Storm!"
Geography
The Astral Plane is defined by it's infinite silver sea peppered with patches of fog, psychic storms, and portals to other planes. The silver waves are often compared to mercury while moving, or a mirror while passing through doldrums.Rivers of Souls
While there is no wind in the physical sense in the Astral Sea, there are still currents that flow through the sea itself in a spider web of "rivers" that traveling ships or spirits can use to rapidly travel to their desired destination... or get hopelessly lost among the endless currents. The nonsensical nature of these currents and the number of souls that get lost has earned these patches of movement the name "Rivers of Souls". Lost spirits may find themselves lucky and run across an Astral Ship that can ferry them to the safety of the Astral City.
Stagnant Waters
Between the winding mazes of veins making up the Rivers of Souls, are patches of still water reflective of doldrums on the Physical Plane. The surface of the silver water is often compared to a mirror by sailors and spirits passing through these regions. Since ships designed to traverse the Astral Sea can travel within and without the River of Souls, skilled navigators are able to chart routes through the stagnant areas, using the Rivers of Souls to gain additional speed and allowing them to shave days or even weeks off of their voyages. The Astral City
Yalha, or the Astral City, stands as the lone settlement within the Astral Plane. It is a safe haven from most of the Astral Sea's perils-- sturdy structures provide its largely Glemsi population shelter from the Psychic Wind. Many of the denizens find work within the Silver Sights Travel Co., either ferrying travelers safely through the hazardous plane, defending the lone city from Psychic Phantoms, or locating and rescuing souls lost among the Rivers.
Yalha's most prominent feature is that it is entirely built within the skeleton of a monstrous creature, though no one knows exactly what it is. Rumors and speculation abound with various theories regarding the creature, its nature, and if any more are out there, but the Silver Sights Travel Co. regularly affirms that they will protect Yalha from any and all threats.
