The Circle of Eight

Structure

The Circle of Eight ultimately answered to Mordenkainen, however, bigger decisions were often subject to a vote. The members of the Circle (at the time of disillusion) are as follows:
  • Mordenkainen, the Black
  • Bigby, the Blue
  • Bucknard, the Grey
  • Drawmij, the Yellow
  • Nystul, the Purple
  • Otiluke, the White
  • Otto, the Green
  • Tenser, the Silver
  Former Members:
  • Acererak, the Betrayer
  • Leomund, the Orange
  • Tarul Var, the Red

Public Agenda

To protect the world against supernatural forces and to enforce the Laws of Magic.

Assets

It was said that the Circle sought out and hid powerful magical items. These items, they believed, would only cause harm in the wrong hands. They were also said to have created five elements orbs that kept some supernatural threat at bay. Where these items are now is a mystery.

History

In ages long forgotten, eight powerful wizards convened to protect the world against threats that the rest of the world had little hope of defeating. It was the great wizard - and planar traveler - Mordenkainen who chose the other seven. Through ancient scrying techniques, he foresaw many great threats and foes that would place the world in grave peril.

Disbandment

The Red Wizards were defeated, Tiamat's servants were vanquished, and the portals to the lower realms were sealed, so there was no reason for the Circle to operate any longer. However, some say that Mordenkainen could not cope with the death of his final apprentice, Bigby.
