Elementals

Elementals are mythical creatures intrinsically tied to an element. They are among the most enigmatic beast-like creatures in Ebdypha. They possess unique characteristics and vary wildly, but all share in common a heavy reliance on a specific elemental existence and the innate ability to wield some magic of said ability.

All elementals bear a faint natural glow, thought to be indicative of their innate magical ability. This visual aura grants them an authoritative look, and an elemental often becomes a type of guardian over an area or group of mundane beasts. They are not sought after by predators due to this aura. Despite this, they are also known as a source of chaos. Sometimes they clash with civilisation, and this conflict might bring about minor incidents like injuries or major incidents such as floods or wildfires.

As well as this, all elementals go blind with age, but this does not diminish their power or presence. Instead, they seem to rely on heightened intuition to interact with their surroundings. These old elementals often become very sedentary and find a place drenched in their own element in which they sit until they die. Sometimes human communities will find these elementals and bring them offerings, exchanging gifts for protection.
