Description: With a guttural chant and a chilling touch to the whispering mask, you tear open the fabric of reality, severing the veil between the material plane and the heart of the spirit realm. A swirling vortex of shimmering mist erupts at your feet, expanding outwards to encompass a vast area around you. This area becomes the Whispering World, a temporary pocket dimension existing within the spirit realm. Choose one of the following effects:
Echoes of a Forgotten Age: The Whispering World transforms into a spectral echo of a lost civilization, bustling with ghostly figures and forgotten structures. You gain the ability to communicate telepathically with any spirit within the area, gleaning knowledge of the past, lost lore, and forgotten secrets. Additionally, you can choose one deceased person who resided in this lost civilization and summon their spectral form. This spirit can interact with the physical world within the Whispering World, offering aid, guidance, or even temporary combat assistance. Trials of the Ancients: The Whispering World transforms into a labyrinthine realm of trials and challenges, filled with ethereal guardians and enigmatic puzzles. Creatures within the area must navigate these trials, facing tests of their courage, wisdom, and strength. Those who succeed are rewarded with boons bestowed by the spirits, such as temporary stat increases, magical items, or knowledge of powerful spells. Those who fail face punishments ranging from ethereal chills and debilitating fears to temporary banishment from the Whispering World. Echoes of Power: The Whispering World resonates with raw spirit energy, amplifying the magic within it. All spells cast within the area have their range doubled and their duration extended by 1 minute. Additionally, you can harness the raw power of the spirits to cast a single spell from any class list (without requiring material components) using a spell slot of 9th level or lower. You must have heard of the spell before and be capable of casting spells of its level. At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 10th level or higher, the radius of the Whispering World increases by 1 mile for each slot level above 9th. Additionally, the boons and punishments within the Trials of the Ancients effect become more potent, and the spell you can cast with Echoes of Power can be of a higher level (up to 10th level with a 10th-level spell slot).
