Phantasmal Serenade of Zerzura

Phantasmal Serenade of Zerzura
2nd-level enchantment, illusion
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 60 feet
Components: V, S, M (a fragment of a mirage, captured in a crystal vial, and a string from a lute played by a ghost)
Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes

Phantasmal Serenade of Zerzura weaves an enchanting and otherworldly melody, echoing the lost and fabled city of Zerzura, a place of mirages and mysteries. As you cast this spell, your voice or instrument begins to emit ethereal, haunting tunes, layered with the subtle harmonics of the unseen and the unknown.

This spell creates a captivating melody that resonates within the minds of those who hear it. Choose any number of creatures you can see within range. Each target is drawn into the phantasmal serenade, their minds enveloped by the haunting music.

The effects of the spell manifest in the following ways:

Trance of the Lost City: Targets who fail a Wisdom saving throw become charmed for the duration. While charmed in this manner, they stand or sit quietly, entranced by the melody, their minds wandering the dreamlike streets of Zerzura. They are incapacitated and have a speed of 0, but they are otherwise unaware of their surroundings, lost in the serenade's phantasmal embrace. Revelation of Desires: As the spellcaster, you can gently probe the minds of the charmed targets, coaxing forth their hidden desires, fears, or secrets. This requires no action, and the targets are not aware of this probing. It allows you to learn significant information about the targets, which could be used for negotiation, persuasion, or understanding their motivations. However, the melody of Zerzura is delicate and requires careful maintenance:

Fragility of the Illusion: If you take damage or are otherwise jolted from your concentration, you must make a Constitution saving throw to maintain the spell. Additionally, any harsh or discordant noise in the vicinity can disrupt the serenade, potentially ending the spell prematurely. While maintaining the spell, you can use your action to change the melody's theme, adjusting the emotional and mental landscape it invokes in the charmed targets. This could range from soothing and calming to eerie and unsettling, depending on your intentions and the narrative of the moment.

At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the range increases by 10 feet, and you can target one additional creature for each slot level above 2nd.
