Greenwood's Grasp of the Ancient Grove

Greenwood's Grasp of the Ancient Grove
8th-level evocation
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 300 feet
Components: V, S, M (an acorn from an ancient treant and a vial of water from a primordial spring, both of which the spell consumes)
Duration: Instantaneous
This spell calls forth the ancient power of the oldest forests, summoning a colossal grove that erupts from the ground, reshaping the battlefield to the caster's will. Upon casting, the caster selects a point within range. A 60-foot radius area around that point becomes an overgrown grove of towering trees, thick underbrush, and entangling roots.
The grove is considered difficult terrain for enemies of the caster, and each creature within the area when the spell is cast must succeed on a Strength saving throw or become restrained by the roots and vines. A creature restrained by the grove can use its action to make a Strength check against your spell save DC, freeing itself on a success.
Additionally, the grove serves as a conduit for natural energy. Allies of the caster within the grove gain a +2 bonus to AC and saving throws, and they can use a bonus action on their turn to regain 2d6 hit points, representing the life-giving energy of the ancient grove.
Once during the spell's duration, the caster can choose to perform a “Call of the Ancients.” This powerful action allows the caster to temporarily animate elements of the grove, summoning up to four treant guardians. These guardians obey the caster’s commands and fight to protect the grove and its allies. They last for 1 minute or until destroyed.
  Classes: Druid, Ranger
Subclasses: Nature Cleric, Circle of the Land Druid
Note: Greenwood's Grasp of the Ancient Grove offers a blend of offensive and defensive capabilities, making it ideal for druids and rangers in high-level campaigns. It is not found in the SRD and should be introduced in settings where the primal forces of nature play a significant role.
Source: Custom creation, inspired by Ed Greenwood's lush and vibrant depictions of natural environments, combined with the mechanics of D&D 5e.
