Ethereal Weave of the Cosmic Loom Spell in Changing Stars | World Anvil

Ethereal Weave of the Cosmic Loom

Ethereal Weave of the Cosmic Loom
8th-level transmutation
Casting Time: 1 minute
Range: 120 feet
Components: V, S, M (a shard of star crystal worth at least 2,000 gp, and a thread spun from the silk of an astral moth, both of which the spell consumes)
Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes
This spell taps into the very fabric of the cosmos, allowing the caster to manipulate the threads of reality in a localized area. Upon casting, the caster selects a point within range. A 30-foot radius sphere centered on that point becomes a zone of warped reality.
Within this sphere, the caster can alter the physical properties of matter and energy. The caster can change one property of the environment each round as a bonus action (e.g., gravity, temperature, light). These changes can be as drastic as reversing gravity, turning solids to liquids, or bending light to create illusions or areas of total darkness.
Additionally, once during the duration of the spell, the caster can choose to perform a “Cosmic Shift.” This action allows the caster to rearrange the physical layout of the area within the sphere, such as swapping the positions of walls and floors, creating or dispelling obstacles, or even temporarily altering the flow of time within the sphere (speeding it up or slowing it down).
Creatures within the sphere when the spell is cast, or those that enter it later, must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, a creature is subject to the caster's whims and can be moved or have its physical form altered (such as being stretched,
compressed, or reshaped). These changes are disorienting but not harmful, and they revert once the creature leaves the sphere or when the spell ends.
  Classes: Wizard, Sorcerer
Subclasses: Chronurgy Wizard, Wild Magic Sorcerer
Note: This spell, with its reality-bending effects, is suited for high-magic settings and should be used with caution due to its potential for altering the balance of a game. It is not available in the SRD but is a perfect fit for campaigns that delve into the mysteries of the cosmos and the fabric of reality.
