Chronomancer's Paradox is an arcane manipulation of the temporal weave, a spell that reflects the enigmatic and non-linear nature of time itself. Upon casting, you select a point in space within range, and there you fracture the continuity of time, creating a localized anomaly where past, present, and future briefly entwine and conflict.
At the chosen point, a visible distortion appears, like a ripple on the surface of a still pond, yet this ripple warps the very fabric of time. Within a 10-foot radius centered on this point, the flow of time becomes erratic and unpredictable. Objects and creatures within this area experience brief, surreal moments where their actions repeat, reverse, or skip forward in time.
Creatures within the radius of the temporal anomaly at the start of their turn must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, they become ensnared in the paradox, causing their actions to become disjointed and out of sync with the normal flow of time. This results in the following effects until the start of their next turn:
Temporal Displacement: The creature's movements and attacks seem to lag or jump forward unexpectedly, imposing disadvantage on all their attack rolls and Dexterity saving throws.
Echoes of Actions Past: The creature may randomly repeat an action it took on its previous turn, as determined by the DM. This action occurs immediately and involuntarily, potentially benefiting or hindering the creature or its allies.
On a successful save, a creature is momentarily buffered by the temporal flux but remains anchored in the present, suffering no immediate ill effects.
As the caster, you may use your action on subsequent turns to intensify the temporal distortion at the same point, deepening the paradox. Each time you do so, creatures within the anomaly must make the Wisdom saving throw again, with the effects persisting or reoccurring on a failed save.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the radius of the temporal distortion increases by 5 feet for each slot level above 2nd.
