Skill: Media

The Media skill is a catch all term for your character’s ability to use the 2840 Etherweb. This applies to a wide range to techniques from maintaining a social media account, to blogging, to searching for news stories, to creating pop-culture artifacts like viral videos and memes. It is assumed that a character with the Media skill has both regular access to the Etherweb and a fairly consistent drive to keep up with the ever-changing universe around them. When applied to viewing news stories, characters with Media may identify bias and reasonably fact check the data they are receiving. When writing news stories or otherwise viral content, a well-trained E-communicator may fill their writing and videos with pathos and wit which can increase the number of people following them and inflame pre-existing passions. Because of the impersonal nature of communications over the Etherweb, most rolls involving this skill use either the Manipulation, Appearance, or the Wits Attributes.

Ability Levels:

0	Abysmal: If you have a presence on the Etherweb, it is a liability. No one will want to hire you after searching your name.
1	Novice: You maintain a social media account and blog that you can use to receive and disseminate information (Some of it might even be true).
2	Practiced: Your social media is well vetted, showing the world an e-persona that makes your strengths apparent, while hiding most of your weaknesses.
3	Competent: You can use blogs, memes, social media to get reactions out of people. You routinely create and circulate viral content among your followers.
4	Expert: Publicly traded companies and politicians would love to have you on their payroll to help them curate their press releases and social media feeds.
5	Master: Your social media accounts are an extension of your will on the Etherweb. You are widely followed online and your messages always resonate well with others.

Players may choose a specialty at level 4 and gain a second specialty at level 5.
