Skill: De'Carta

Designed in 2113 by Gowendy De’Carta, the infamous De’Carta blade became the personal weapon of choice for the space-travel era. Lightweight, agile, and extremely deadly, the De’Carta blade made personal combat much more deadly as limbs could be easily severed and even supernatural creatures could be rendered incapacitated quickly. The modern 2840 De’Carta blade comes in two qualities: a civilian quality which can incapacitate a victim like a modern day tazer (Roll 5 d10 Bashing damage on a successful strike) and a military quality which creates searing wounds and can be further upgraded to cause almost absurd amounts of damage (Roll a minimum of 5 d10 Aggravated damage on a successful strike). Ownership of a military grade De’Carta requires either a special license or adequate contacts to procure one illegally (usually acquired via spending temporary Military, Street, Underworld, or Bureaucracy influence traits). Further modifications to the weapon usually require access to a Technologist who specializes in hyper-tech weapon smithing.

Ability Levels:

 
0 Abysmal: You are fairly certain that you will cut your own fingers off if you ever had to use a military grade De’Carta in a real fight.
1 Novice: You know the proper protocols for cleaning, loading, and using a De’Carta blade safely. You spar with other civilians occasionally.
2 Practiced: You are practiced enough to serve in the Martian infantry, or the Federation Space Marines. You spar with other soldiers regularly.
3 Competent: You have been in a live-fire duel before and you’re still around to talk about it. You keep a steady head when engaged in single combat.
4 Expert: Fellow soldiers regularly train with you to learn your De’Carta techniques. Your fighting style has become unique and easily identifiable.
5 Master: You are an acknowledged champion of the electric blade. You have an appreciable body count to your name which inspires fear wherever you go.

Military Personnel, Mercenaries, Pirates, Brujah, Martial Artists, Home-Defense Enthusiasts, Survivalists.
Sample Specialties:   Fastdraw, Defensive Parries, Disarming Tactics, Dual Wielding, Single Combatant Dueling, Multiple Opponents, Hyper-tech modifications.   Players may choose a specialty at level 4 and gain a second specialty at level 5.
