Political acumen, also called civics, involves the study of government structures and the sociological theories of how politicians and their political parties function.  In the world of 2512, this knowledge is particularly applicable to understanding the five branches of the Earth Federation's technocratic government.  You are well versed in the interplay of the UEF's four major political parties: the Labor Party, the Green Party, the Meritocracy, and the Imperial Party. Common information rolls involving politics includes identifying a politician's political platform, understanding how laws are created and enforced, an understanding of political theories (both ancient and modern), and a basic competency with political jargon. Politics study rolls include analyzing a bill or party platform for strengths and weaknesses, conducting polls, lobbying government representatives for political favors, and achieving a careful understanding of the United Earth Federation constitution to a point where you can turn its wording to your advantage.

Ability Levels:

0	Ignorant: You are aware that governments exist and occasionally make you do things, but you have little understanding of how they work or what purpose they serve.
1	High School: You understand the basic five branches of the UEF government and you know which branches exert control over particular parts of society, and who exerts control over those branches.
2	College: You have probably worked as a political intern, or been employed by a government representative.  You are beginning to understand how to wield and maintain political power.
3	Masters: You are well versed in the dogmas and rationales of most prominent politicians, and you also understand the social and power structures that keep those politicians in power.
4	Doctorate: You are either a successful politician yourself, or you make a living teaching political science at the university level. You are well versed in the systems of day-to-day government operations.
5	Scholar: You have a frightening understanding of how the United Earth Federation government works and you can often turn that knowledge into real political power.
