Solenopolis: the city on an anthill

[Prompt: A settlement at the limits of the "known" or "civilized" world]   How'd I describe Solenopolis, mm. Eahh... Well, so it's these bugs, yeah? But they isn't ordinary bugs, see. They're like -- they're like -- you know James and the Giant Peach? That Earthy book where they get all magicky big and -- Oh, it's a movie now? Well, that's neat. Yeah, anyway, same thing, same hat, kinda thing happened to a bunch of the bugs here. And that gets complicated, ya know? 'Cause now you're like, a person, I guess, but you don't look like a person, you look like the other bugs but you're not -- you're smarter'n 'em, you think different, and you can't really live with 'em no more.   What's a lady to do? (laughs) What's a ladybug gonna do?   I think it was bees, actually. Yeah, the bees got it, got giant peached first. So the queenie ladybee, what she does is she builds a big hive in a big ol' tree a little bit away from Moonsville for all of 'er bees. That's smart, 'cause now they're close enough to other people to, I dunno, help with things sometimes. Trade. Sometimes people go out with jars and they trade stuff for the bee honey and bring the jars back full and nice and golden.   Special?   Well I think the honey's magic. I think that's how we got the ants. Oh yeah, you were 'riginally asking about Solenopolis! Just like I planned. (laughs) Yeah. My theory? That honey's chock full o' magic, the magic that peachified the bees, and when it drips out of the hive, the bugs eat it and then they get peachified. And ants, they're mean little greedy things, they covet the honey, so they probably took it back to their hill. Oh, maybe, are they smart enough for that? I was just thinkin', maybe the ants even built their hill around the dripping honey, so they could get easy meals. Iunno. I guess that's my little tin foil hat theory, how Solenopolis started.   Is Solenopolis the only one. That's a good question.   Can't say I rightly know. I heard somewhere that beehives split off new ones sometimes, so maybe it isn't the only one. 'S the only buggy city I heard of, though, definitely.   Interesting details? Like what?   Okay, anything that stands out.   Uhh, sure. I mean, the obvious one's the artificial sun floatin' over the hill, big shiny ball kind of a dead giveaway for findin' the place in the first place. Beyond that, I dunno. I like the spiral tower kinda screwy thing they got goin' around the hill, kind of a ziggurat. 'Sgot big Tower of Babel vibes, hope they do somethin' with that motif. You think the spiral goes down the inside, too? Is it a tower or a tunnel then?   What indeed!   And, you gotta ask, why do I keep repeating parts of the question?   Well, since you're gonna make me analyze my own elocution patterns, I'd say the answer is threefold. First, it's a dialogue style-differentiating idiosyncrasy, like my apostrophic run-ons. 'Sall intentional; makes my character stand out more. Second, it's good communication to repeat and make sure you understand. And it gives the audience more of an idea what you're asking. I'll let you work that one out. Third, because screw you, that's why.
