The Boatman

General Summary

Joetta encounters the merchant Ruru Nahal and discovers his trade as a Darisian slaver and thoroughly unpleasant person. She convinces Kiula to leave without meeting him.
Along with Bobor Pat'an and Bordun Barrik she decides that a sea route to Telek Tarim would be safer and easier than risking the land crossing (particularly on the backs of Mera) and so they return to the docks and encounter a man name Telrim who offers to loan them a boat. Something about his manner is off but it's hard to place why.
The trio spend the night in a local inn and Bordun Barrik earns some money by singing. In the morning they return to the docks to collect their boat but are ambushed by two bounty hunters who have come to claim a bounty on Joetta, naming her a kin-slayer.
The trio take the boat and flee. Bobor Pat'an injures one of the hunters who falls into the sea. The other assails Joetta but the trio defend themselves and Joetta gives him an ultimatum - take some money and swim home or they will tie him and drop him overboard. He takes the money and jumps.
The trio sail on northward, hugging the coast, on the start of their journey to Telek Tarim though their next goal is procuring supplies.
