Tanatan

At the western and southern borders of Chaha Ris great steep mountains rise from the plains. The passes and pathways into the mountains are fortified and well guarded, and the inhabitants are hostile to all strangers. The Cheldrim call them Tanatan -- the Iron Eyed men - for the warriors who wear strange iron helms that cover their faces. Rumour says they do not worship the right gods, or take pride in honour, or respect courage. Rumour says they slay all strangers who come near them, or enslave them in dark pits beneath the mountains.
