Cat-humans

Basic Information

Anatomy

The cat-human has six times better vision than a human in darkness but is like people blind in total darkness. They can run up to 50 kilometers per hour, but only during short sprints. A cat-human can often make vertical jumps, from sedentary, up to 2 meters.   A cat-human being released up-and-down at rest can quickly turn in the air to safely land on the paws. Since the cat-human then has no momentum at the beginning of the case, and the only external force on the cat is gravity, this means that the momentum of motion is constant zero throughout the case. In simple terms, the process can be described as such that the cat begins to pull in the front paws next to the body, while the hind legs spread out as much as possible, which means that the mass inertia is higher for the hind body than the front body. This allows the cat to rotate the front of the body 180 degrees, while the rear body is only rotated about 5 degrees in the opposite direction. The cat then vice versa to get the hind body on the right keel, and finally the landing is fine-tuned using the tail. This entire maneuver is done in about 0.15 seconds. When the cat-human then reaches the ground, the movement energy is absorbed in a complex of muscles and bones, which functions resiliently and naturally suppressing, so that the cat is not injured but can usually cope with free fall of more than five meters intact.

Biological Traits

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Ears

Cat-humans have 32 muscles in every ear. These help the cat-human to angle and twist the ears, for example, to locate the prey or predator. The cat-human's ears also send out signals to animals and to other creeds. Close-backed ears indicate strong aggression, especially if the cat-human is milling. Upward indications indicate attention to the direction they are directed.

Whiskers

If the cat-human is frightened, it puts the whiskers backward, the same he/she does in the fight to protect the whiskers. If the cat-human is curious, they angle the whiskers forward.

History

Cat-humans emigrated to Eldercrest around 400 AF from Karitos in the south. Since they didn't come in numbers all at once it was easier for the Eldercrestarians to accept them. Most came to Eldercrest mainly in trading possibilities. But eventually, more and more Cat-humans pored in. The House of Meadows got an order from the Emperor Earlmar Swan tho in 460 to control how many cat-human emigrating and coming to stay in Eldercrest fearing of espionage. This was later a reason to start the First Certosian war in 536 AF.   The Cat-human population in Eldercrest declined during the first Certosian war because of the suspicion of espionage, a lie, and prejudice that Earlmar spread of the cat-humans.     Cat-humans, as well as other creeds, had their role reconsidered after the First Certosian war and were given the same rights as the Elves. But they never gained any noble house. That was given to the werewolves and the werebears.
