Obsidian

The richest of lords can afford to send their men deep below the sea level to find volcanos. Some dormant and some not. From there they drag up the stone from the sea floor, often hiring mages to ease the process.    Some have tried to reach the one active volcano that is still above sea level. However, no matter how much money the rich throw at their hired help it does not seem to ensure they ever return with the material. Instead a host of boats are found smashed against the cliffs edge. It does not seem to matter if the crew survived because they were never seen from again.    Occasionally this is useful when it comes to getting rid of a foolish lord willing to try and prove that they can overcome the curse of Deismaar. Since the battle of the Gods that resulted in their death and the accession of the new Gods the land has been a scar on this plane.
