The Blessed Skills

From the Sons and Mother Holy come the abilities which give Blessed Ones the right and power to lead the people of Cerea.

Summary

When the First Son, Hos, saw that the world He and His family created had descended into bloodshed and chaos, He took it upon himself to join the mortals and lead them to peace. In mortal form, Hos found He had retained a godly power to heal, to save lives that might otherwise have been lost. He used this ability to garner respect and love from mortals who then followed Him willingly. Upon the death of His mortal form, Hos retreated back to the heavens.   The Second Son, Areen, took up His brother's place and used his skill to speak with all manner of creatures as a way to gain cooperation across all lands and nationalities. He even convinced ravaging beasts to leave battered towns and ports alone. There was no language He could not understand, no living entity He could not communicate with, and so people turned to him to resolve conflict and misunderstandings.   Jolth, the Third Son, ascended after Areen's death and brought with Him the tremendous power of the sun; His hands could bring forth anything the light touched even if it was nowhere to be found. Citizens turned to Him when their crops failed or their homes were destroyed as He could create anything He'd once seen with His own eyes.   With the Fourth Son, Yullew, the world was given a chance to see glimmers of the future. Just as moonlight only illuminates shadows and not very well at that, Yullew was blessed with premonitions which gave Him the upper hand in combat and in daily life. Everyone from the highest ranking lords to the lowest of peasants came to Him for the chance to know their future.   Arain had seen His brothers do their best to control the mortal world beneath them, and upon his descent He used His knowledge of the winds to move that which could not normally be moved. His abilities knew little limitation and He was able to use His mind to create motion where there was no obvious reason for it.   The youngest brother, Dearn, had seen His family do their best to save the mortal creatures of the world. Yet still, when each of His brothers had returned home, the mortals fought and warred and destroyed all that had been created. In frustration, Dearn used the power of fire to kill any unsavory mortal creature He came across. He was feared, and that was all He wanted.   With His return to the heavens, the Six Sons gave up hope that any one incarnation could do enough to heal the world. They believed all hope was lost for the mortals. In a frustrated and desperate plea to their mother, Light, they begged that something be done to show the mortals how to behave, to live and grow and prosper. Touched by the care Her sons had for the mortals they had helped create, Light agreed to bring forth one last incarnation of Herself to the world, to see if She could bring balance to it just as She had Her family.

Historical Basis

While romantic, this myth was perhaps originally designed to explain randomly occurring phenomena such as telekinesis, telepathy, fortune telling, et cetera. While science has made huge advancements explaining the structure of the brain, there is still no accounting for current examples of such skills such as the Kumari, especially since she possesses all skills inherent in each member of the Holy Family.
