Glimpse Stones

Gnarles rolled the marble in his large fingers and focus his sensations on it, Glimpsing into its depths. He had seen many moments of this young man's life, through his eyes. They came intermittently and not always at his beckoning. Even more confusing, they usually only lasted less than a minute and seemed to appear in no particular chronological order.   His eyes dimmed as he pushed his focus further. He had promised Relic that he would find out as much as he could about this stone, and he meant to keep that promise.   His vision softened and re-focused, no longer under his control. A male's voice, the apprentice's, called out, "I'm coming!" Running up the stairs, with an armful of metal contraptions, the apprentice opened the door at the top and entered into a workshop as Gnarles vision returned to his home.   A short one this time, he realized. Oh well - try, try again...

Mechanics

Glimpse stones are large marble-like objects of crystal that looks like a whirling spiral of glitter floats within, when turned under the light. Certain individuals have the talent of gaining images and memories from these stones. Each stone seems to hold the memories of a single person. These memories do not contain thoughts or feelings, but are merely sounds and images.

During a short rest, an individual with the talent can sync with a glimpse stone, and gain a fragment of the current story of that glimpse stone. These stones tend to linger on a single story until it is complete. Once a scene has been completed by an individual, that person can then spend 1 minute to relive the entire completed scene in order. Also after completion, further syncing with the glimpse stone will move it to a new scene. The stones do not necessarily show fragments of a scene in order, nor do they show scenes in the order that they occured in the person's life.

After completing enough stories from a single glimpse stone, it is possible for the owner to gain knowledge, skills, or abilities based on the memories in the stone.
