Harvester

Thick, slow, snow flakes float lethargically to the forest floor as the Harvester kneels in silence, deep breaths lifting and sinking within her chest. Her eyes are closed as she breathes slowly in and out, she is listening intently to the night air, she hears them quietly surrounding her. Four? No, five. Five Raptuaries, hunting as a pack, are circling around her, maintaining a thirty foot distance and waiting for the signal from their alpha to strike. A smile creases across her face as she slowly places her hand upong the hilt of the thin, curved sword attached to her hip. Raptuary toxin is almost as valuable as Azurite to the right buyer, and she has five now closing in on her. They break the threshold of the small clearing where she is kneeling and like lightning, she snaps into action. Her blade is drawn and in five flashes of cold steel, the snowy forest floor is splattered with crimson. Now to begin the difficult work, extracting the toxin from their four inch curved talon without knicking herself. The smallest drop could paralyze her for hours, and in this cold that would be the end of her Harvesting days.

Of Killing and Chemistry

Harvesters are the elite monster hunters of Centrilian. Their specific form of Xaosian Channeling allows them to read the dark energy that radiates from within the monstrosities that roam the wildlands of Centrilian, as well as allow them to move with blinding speed and precision. These Kynd are also highly trained in the art of chemistry and potion making, usually combining these skills to make anti-toxins and powerful concoctions from the harvested poisons, glands, blood, scales, and other valuable parts of the monsters they hunt and kill. Some Harvesters use this skill for profit, ridding villages and towns of monsters wreaking havoc, others focus on the selling of exotic tonics and potions to the aristocratic elite, allowing them to live longer, look younger, and even alter their physical appearance, all for a heafty price that is. There is also a noble tradition that has largely been abandoned by modern Harvesters, but is still followed by some. This tradition focuses on the art of tracking down and executing monsters, in the name of silencing Krick and his vendetta against the powers of light and all that is beautiful and natural in the world.
