Books to Archive and Index

A dark figure stalked the dark library. Dust covered books were strewn about haphazardly. The figure put a glowing crystal between her teeth and brushed the cover of a journal. A simple date was its title, placing the diary's creation during the creation of the Empire. The next book was a text on dream travel. Another about the mating habits of some extinct spider. The figure shook her head in disbelief.   "Have you a reason I should not slay you in this moment trespasser?" Spoke a commanding voice from the shadows.   "This is atrocious. No discernible organization. Dust half as thick as these tomes." The figure stood and carried several books to the equally unused desk. She pulled a notepad of her own out and began transcribing titles.   "Do you ignore me?" Aros scoffed. "Do you know who I am? Who's library you intrude on?"   "First of the Five, Last of the Lords, Dominus of the Veilwood, King of the Vampires, Lord Aros." She didn't look up from her notebook. "Yes yes yes, I know who you are."   Aros tilted his head to the side, intrigued. "Do you not fear death?"   "Terrified of it." She moved back to the box and fetched another handful of books. "Death of this knowledge. Death of these books. Death of the countless breakthroughs and potential insights that will never come because someone saw fit to put all of this irreplaceable information in... a box."   "What is your name?" Aros asked; a curl reaching the corner of his mouth.   "Sasha," she answered without looking up from her books.   "You do not fear for your own life Sasha?"   Sasha locked eyes with the vampire. The brown globes were filled with surety. "I will die when this library has no more works left to archive and index."   The shelves were covered in neglectful and forgotten dust. In time they were covered in meticulously organized and treasured books.   In time the shelves were covered in flames, and there were no more works left to archive or index.
