Serpent Legion

A project of Kel Rayma the Mad, the Serpent Legion was an army of orphaned and kidnapped children that could be raised and trained to be unquestionably loyal, expendable, and supplemental to any of Kel Rayma's other forces. They saw a suprising amount of success in battle and were feared by many for their relentless strategies and the individual valor they showed. Reviled for their mercilessness and the atrocities they committed, little quarter was given to them as the war progressed. The nature of their situation was made secret once it was known by their enemies, as the knowledge that it was orphans and children that were toppling cities and slaughtering armies in the west, was deemed a detriment to the morale of the military and general population. Once significant progress had been made against the Legion, the last stages of the war were left in the hands of veteran and specialized forces that could be counted on to handle and hopefully disarm the legionaires.

Structure

The Serpent Legion serves the whims of Kel Rayma and is overseen by those in his inner circle and their lieutenants. These lieutenants than choose to select leaders from among the legionaires or take command themselves.

Culture

The command elements of the legion were close allies of Kel Rayma that were willing to put children through vicious training to try and create completely willing soldiers with no objections or limits. As for the child soldiers, they were raised to follow their orders without question and morality was deemed a defect that would weaken the effectiveness of Kel Rayma's army. The identity instilled in them was that they were not even human, as they lacked names, families, homes, and many other things that would be part of a normal person's identity. They were meant to fight and die at the whim of Kel Rayma and his lieutenants as they belonged nowhere else. As the war progressed and terrible acts committed by Kel Rayma's Serpent Leigon were discovered, more aggression and less mercy was shown to the forces of the Mad. A mentality that they would be killed by anyone outside the legion solidified, as the young legionaires could only trust each other and some of their leaders.

Public Agenda

The stated goals of the Legion were conquest in the name of Kel Rayma and to establish his control over The Northern Half. All other states were to bow to his will or face destruction and humiliation.

Disbandment

The disappearance of Kel Rayma and his inner circle during the siege of his personal fortress Aaral Duraz marked the end of the Serpent Legion as an operating army. The legionaires led by Dire Captain Zachi-el at this fortress became ambassadors to the remaining isolated legionaires that they had been abandoned and the fighting was over.
