Transmission & Vectors

A common way to contract the disease is from contact with corrupted creatures. From contact with another individual with the disease. Certain plants native to lands tainted by Oflycus contain this infection. Contraction through this method would be the bursting of a sac of one of these plants, then contact with the fluid inside.

Symptoms

First the area of contact will swell, then shortly after boils filled with fluid will start to show, slowly spreading across the body. The second stage is extreme fatigue and weakness, followed by the seizing of the joints.

Treatment

Through magical means the disease can be delayed or cured. Mundane ways of curing this disease are difficult, popping any boils and treating them with acid to prevent spread of infection. At later stages searing heat would need to by applied to the joints to coax the fluid to the surface.

Prognosis

After the first couple days the joints are so seized movement is near impossible. The infection eventually makes its way to a vital organ and clogs it with viscous liquid. Depending on the area this could lead to quick or slow death.

Prevention

Rare amulets blessed to prevent disease can prevent this infection.
