The Dead Depth Blade - shortsword

This anitech blade made of painted bronze has a soul orb inset in the base of the blade, above the manticore leather wrapped hilt.  Two stators seem to "float' on intricate gear systems on either side of the handle guard, which force energy of the soul orb into every thrust and parry of the blade while also storing energy for the Dead Depth Charge.  
This blade was commissioned by the Empire in 405 AV, for use by the recently promoted head of the Inquisitor Shadows, a halfling named Haverul Ardfar.  After the blade was constructed, but before it could be delivered, the Ochregnome manufactorum commissioned to create this blade broke up and fled, as they were suspected of helping create Bronze Stomp.  This blade found its way into the hands of Warven Warchester, a gnomish battle master who used the blade for 33 years before finally succumbing to a deadly fungal infection spread by Imperial necrodruidic magics.  Warven's prowess with the blade is still brought up in song occasionally.
The blade has a tendency to change the sigils on its surface, or even the shape of the hilt and handle to suit its user's personality, current events, or whim.  This process seems to be completely random with no control given to its bearer.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

While charged, this blade functions as a Shortsword +2.
While charged, the bearer may use a bonus action to cause the blade to glow with light, causing bright light in a 10' radius, and dim light for another 10'.
While charged, whenever you successfully hit an opponent, you may expend a charge of the soul orb to lace a death depth charge in the target. This charge will sit inside the opponent until it is dispelled, discharged, or 1 minute passes. Anytime on your turn, you may activate the command to detonate the death depth charge. The charge does damage equal to the soul die, plus one additional soul die per turn since lacing the target with the charge. There can be any number of charges in existence at once, but all of them will detonate upon using the command word.
